We are a fifty something couple with an empty nest. We have always wanted to travel the U.S. now we can. Where to begin? Leaning toward 5th wheel or trailer. But, then, how to begin? It’s overwhelming!
    Any advice will be appreciated!

Love the name “wandering with purpose”, yet sad I will not using it for my Skoolie project.
Looking forward to looking through your site which I have stumbled upon.

  5. So wonderful to meet you two! We wanted to invite you over tonight, but after my morning swim, the smoke pushed me inside with a bad headache. We will be in touch and, hopefully – whether by accident or design – meet again. xoxo

    Hello Dave and Kelly,

Thanks a million for the description of your solar install. It is very helpful!

Could you please indicate what is the “switch”(?) placed just under the shunt? (on the right right of the charge controller)?

And if I may, you placed an On/Off switch on the 6 gauge wire between the solar panels and the charge controller. Is this necessary?

    • Hi Robert –
The “switch” you refer to is a circuit breaker specific to the solar charge controller.

As for the (red) on/off switch … it is connected to the solar panels. Strictly speaking, such a switch is not required, but I installed it in-line so as to have the ability to interrupt incoming solar amps. I’ve used it a few times – always to kill solar power to the system when performing maintenance in daylight. I’d recommend it.

      Hope this helps.
