If you ask people especially women about the stone they want for their jewelry especially their engagement ring, you will probably hear diamonds often. These stones are loved by almost everyone. In fact, the first engagement ring was made of diamond. It is said that the first engagement ring was given by Archduke Maximilian to Mary of Burgundy as a token of love. Since then, many aristocrats gave diamond engagement rings. These diamonds traditionally come in clear color but after some discoveries, people mined other colored diamonds like purple diamond, pink diamond, brown diamond and such. However, these colored stones are very rare. In fact, some of them are really few in number that only some privileged ones are able to see them.
Because these stones are really rare, they are priced at a higher value depending on various factors like its color, carat, clarity and carat. Of course, it is usual that diamonds with bigger carat and more complex cut are more expensive. The real difference with pricing fancy colored diamonds is in the color and clarity. When pricing colorless diamonds, they more clarity it has which means less color, the more expensive it is. For colored diamonds, it is the opposite. The stronger the shade of the color is, the more expensive it is. If for clear diamonds D is the highest quality, for colored ones it’s Z. Another factor which determines the price is whether it is cultured, treated or natural. Natural ones are more expensive than cultured or treated ones as they are not manipulated by human.
